Focus Group Discussion "Policy Framework Development supporting Food Sovereignty Implementation"
The Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) and Pertanian Mandiri Foundation (Yapari) jointly conducted Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Policy Framework Development supporting Food Sovereignty Implementation” at the Secretariat of IAARD Jakarta on 11 December 2014. The participants of FGD were mostly the seniors of IAARD. This FGD was aimed at providing policy recommendation to “Working Cabinet” supporting the implementation of food sovereignty.
Mapping Agricultural Competitiveness of Indonesia
National macro-economic conditions face increasingly challenging future, and global economy will be increasingly integrated. In open economic, Indonesian domestic market is strongly associated with the interstate development of increasingly liberal. By opening domestic market similar agricultural import products will more easily get into the country, which would be a threat and inhibit the growth opportunities of agricultural products. This was conveyed by Dr. Saktyanu K. Dermoredjo at ICASEPS Coffee Morning event held at ICASEPS Office on Friday, 12 December 2014.
Focus Group Discussion "Policy Formulation Supporting the Achievement of Rice, Corn, and Soybean Self-Sufficiency 2017"
The Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) conducted Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Policy Formulation Supporting the Achievement of Rice, Corn, and Soybean Self-Sufficiency 2017” on Thursday (4 December 2014) at ICASEPS Bogor. The FGD generated the policy formulation as an input to the “Working Cabinet” in achieving food self-sufficiency program. The FGD was lead by the secretary of IAARD, while the resource persons were Dr. Rusman Heriawan, Dr. Ahmad Suryana, and Dr. Syahyuti.
Focus Group Discussion " Technology Transfer Supporting Sustainable Agriculture"
The transfer of agricultural technology is required to support the improvements of production and productivity as well as the sustainable income of farmers. However, the majority of farmers in Indonesia are smallholders who mostly do not have sufficient resources to adopt modern technology. Efforts on identifying the various problems and constraints as well as formulating alternative solutions related to the transfer of agricultural technology become very important. It is purposed that technologies produced by researchers of IAARD (Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development) would be able to adopt by users maximally.
National Seminar on the World Food Day 2014 “Agricultural Bioindustry-Based Potential Local Food”
As activity series to commemorate the 34th World Food Day, the National Seminar was conducted on 4 November 2014 at Clarion Hotel Makassar, South Sulawesi. There were 300 participants namely academia, researchers, experts, bureaucrats, practitioners, and NGO (Non-Government Organization) members attending this seminar.
Successful Working Visit of Minister of Agriculture to the Center for Rice Research in Sukamandi
On 30 September 2014, the Minister of Agriculture conducted working visit to the Center for Rice Research in Sukamandi, West Java. This working visit involved the director and echelon II officers of IAARD including director of ICASEPS. The minister expressed that the political spirit of food sovereignty should be reflected in the budget policy. It is estimated that at the time of the beginning work of the ministry of agriculture requires about Rp 24 trillion for food self-sufficiency program.
